Friday Flickr Fave BCN BICING and BIXI TO

Spring is creeping in and the launch of BIXI Toronto is on its way.

A prime example of how a bike share program has transformed into an everyday element of city transportation, is this photo from the SDB flickr pool by Bart Omeu.

BICING or, "Bike share" in Barcelona is more like a "City share" program. It allows its citizens to experience an enhanced standard of city living that in previous years did not exist. It shouts," buy into Barcelona and you get all this..."

I've been admiring Barts' documentation of Barcelona street life, and through conversations and comparisons with Tursime Barcelona and theirBarcelona by bicycle guide I can imagine that the vibe in this photo will one day be pulsing through the heart of Toronto.

Tampered Press Threesome

The Northern tip of Trinity Bellwoods houses a little strip of cityscape that provides the 3 things required for winter wonderland photos in March.

1. An interesting background.

2. A well travelled cycle path.

3. A really good cafe.

The Tampered Press is one of my treasured cafe's in this part of Toronto.

Its big bright windows overlooking the park are highlighted by the coffee scented wifi access and gluten free baked goods.

It would be a perfect place to harbour cyclists in from the cold.

Maybe the city could put up 5 more bike stands in front to lure the spring traffic in.

We could paint them, "espresso" brown.

Either way i'll still visit.

Take a pause and smell the coffee.

Then ride.

Winter is slowly fading and the first weeks of march have come in like a lion cub.
Lions may be kings of the jungle, however here are some queens of Queen St. west.

A little snow can't stop us.

I will get there

on my own time

on my own ride

but never alone.
